Do you have pain or difficulty with any of the following?

  • Driving a car

  • Making the bed

  • Vacuuming, dusting

  • Sweeping, mopping

  • Cleaning the bathtub

  • Doing laundry

  • Gardening

  • Picking up your clothes/grandchildren

  • Picking up anything

The “Save Your Back” class can help!

ABOUT THE CLASS:

This is a course specifically designed for people with back or neck pain, or for those who wish to avoid it.

The course consists of three weekly, one-hour classes.

The classes are designed for the non-medical person and teach a basic understanding of the spine and of the structures surrounding the spine, as well as frequent causes of back/neck problems, common disorders of the back, treatment and back care.

Each of the three classes will include discussion of the topic followed by the opportunity for each of the participants to practice the concepts discussed.

Each participant will receive a certificate of completion at the close of the last class.

  WHY IS THIS CLASS IMPORTANT?

  • Most back problems are not the result of a single injury; they occur from the accumulated stresses and strains that we place on our backs during the course of the day.

  • You can reduce these stresses and strains by learning how to bend and lift properly.  You can reduce these stresses and strains by learning the correct way to vacuum, dust, do laundry, drive, wash dishes, etc.

  • The BEST way for you to avoid injury is to be well-informed about the causes of injury and to learn what you can do to prevent it.

  • The BEST way to learn about injury prevention is to learn how your back is constructed and what makes it vulnerable to injury.
